Microsoft’s advance notice, released today, for its August 2011 Patch Tuesday fixes, indicates the software giant plans to release a total of 13 security bulletins.
The bulletins, slated for release Tuesday, Aug. 6, will address 22 vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows, Office, Internet Explorer, .NET and Visual Studio, Only two of the planned releases are labeled “critical.” The “critical” vulnerabilities require system restarts and, if unpatched, may allow remote code execution in Windows and Internet Explorer.
The other 20 vulnerabilities include nine labeled “important” and two labeled “moderate.” Fifteen will require restarts, while the remaining five may require a restart, particularly with flaws in Microsoft Windows.
In July, Microsoft issued four bulletins, one rated “critical,” and repaired 22 vulnerabilities in Windows and Office.
